The project
What is Slow Traversing?
Slow traversing combines human-powered travel with expedition-style objectives, basecamps, and exploration. It gives us the time to move through remote, seldom-visited terrain, wait for weather, pursue objectives, and spend more time together along the way.
We take inspiration from backcountry skiing writers and explorers like Lowell Skoog, Fred Beckey, Lena Rowat, and Louis Dawson. Their work reflects a curiosity about the mountains and a willingness to take the long way through them. We want to approach these ranges in the same way.
